Hey everyone! Sorry it took so long to get this posted; we have been keeping very busy here at Diamondback!

We have now been in business for one year and have had more than 6000 orders so far. Thank you so much for your help and support!

I know that I put in the last blog that I was going to have a few sessions about basic electronics, and I am going to do that, but I do want to let everyone know that we are now also featured on Amazon. Just like everything else these things start off slow but we have already seen some success.

Ok, now for the quick electronics lesson. The first thing everyone needs to know is a basic understanding of what electricity is.

Most people know that electricity is a flow of electrons. These electrons can be transmitted through and conductor. A conductor can be almost anything from a copper wire to the human body.

What most people don’t understand are the electrical terms. Let’s just learn just a few of the major ones and we will move on to more next week. Voltage, current (or Amperage) and resistance will be the three we look at. I find these terms to be easier to understand when I can explain as water as opposed to electricity.

Voltage is like the water pressure in a pipe. When this pressure is correct then it is very useful, when incorrect it can be very destructive. Lightning is a great example of a very high voltage that can cause damage, but not the only one. In different parts of the world household voltages are different ranging from about 100V to about 250V. When a device designed to work with 110V is plugged into an outlet rated at 240V it normally fizzles and pops and becomes generally unusable except as a paperweight.

Current is simply the amount of electricity flowing through a conductor, just like the amount of water flowing through a pipe. Most devices list their maximum current output this can be listed in Amperes or milli-Amperes or just Amps. Sometimes these numbers can also be listed as Watts, that is voltage times the current. The current listing on a device can be thought of more like the size of a water pipe, the larger the pipe the more water can flow through the pipe.

Resistance is like a faucet. Low resistance is like an open faucet, high resistance is a closed faucet. Resistance controls the flow of current allowed to flow through a device.

So, getting back to the water analogy if you have a device that has a high voltage and it rated with a large current (such as a clothes dryer) could be thought of a fire hose. Lightning (high voltage and low current) could be thought of a super high pressure water gun. A small 1.5v battery could be thought of as a small hose with a slow drip.

The standard equation for voltage, current and resistance is V=IR where V is voltage, I is current and R is resistance. This is known as ohm’s law. If you know any two of the variables you can easily find the third by manipulating the equation. For example R=V/I or I=V/R .

Next week we can talk a little bit about batteries and AC adapters and how those things work.

Hello Everyone,

It has been almost a month since our last post, but we do want to keep everyone posted on everything exciting that is going on here at Diamondback.

We have been working hard to gear up for our busiest season. This has been quite a challenge with laptop batteries and new Sony H series batteries selling as fast as we get them in.
We should receive our next battery load in about 10/13/08, so if you are waiting on a NP-FH100 or Dell battery that we are out of, we should have those back in stock then, so keep checking back.

I am also planning to write a few posts over the following weeks about the basics of electronics. This is probably pretty boring stuff for a lot of you, but we do get quite a few questions dealing with just these issues. This should include battery basics, AC adapters as well as battery chargers.

Thank You,
Steve

September, and plenty to show for it.

Good Afternoon,

Well, we have made it to September yet again. This has been an exciting year for us since our inception back in September of 2007. Our actual 1 year anniversary will be November 1st, but this is the month when we started our meetings and talks to begin Diamondback Battery. I am very proud to say that we have had a wonderful first year, and I expect nothing but the best from the future. With plans to continue giving the best customer service possible combined with top quality items for reasonable prices, all of our customers can expect big things in the coming years as well.

Now, to really kick this update into high gear, I have 9 new items to post for you. As always, these items are on the store ready to ship as soon as they are ordered. So, stepping off:

Samsung Equivalent SLB-1137C Battery

Samsung Equivalent BP-80W Battery

Canon Equivalent BP-2L24 Battery

Canon Equivalent BP-809 Battery

Canon Equivalent BP-214 Battery

Sony Equivalent NP-FH50 Battery

Sony Equivalent NP-FH70 Battery

Sony Equivalent NP-FH100 Battery

Sony Equivalent NP-FH100 Battery and Charger Combo

So, the NP-FH series of batteries I talked about in the last two updates are up on the store and ready to ship, along with a battery charger combo for the NP-FH100 for $99.99. With the Sony Equivalent NP-FH100 Battery being $49.99 each, that deal actually gets you a charger and your shipping for free. Combine that with our coupon we send with each order and your looking at one heck of a deal for a great battery.

I would also like to note something about our NP-FH series batteries. While many other after market batteries have been bypassing the info-lithium chip problems by having an external cord that you connect to the ac jack of your camera. Our batteries come with the current info-lithium chip. No cords, nothing hanging out of the camera. Just slide the battery into place and you are ready to go.

We have received a new shipment of our laptop batteries and adapters as well. So a lot of the batteries that we had run out of stock on for a short time are also back on the store and ready to go.

Everyone here at Diamondback Battery and Electronics hopes you are having a great back to school season. With things really getting into swing this year is going to go by fast. I know I personally am looking forward to Halloween so I have an excuse to indulge my sweet tooth, and with Thanksgiving and Christmas not to far down the road things are about to get really exciting.

I hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful weekend.

Thank you
Brian

August is almost over already

Hello everyone,

Well, it's the end of August already. I can't believe how fast this month seems to have gone by. It feels like it should still be June, instead of nearly September.

Regardless of how fast the year seems to be going by. It has been going really well for us here at Diamondback Battery. We are actually within just a few orders of setting a new record for sales today. This week is looking like its going to be our best week so far. With things really gearing up like this I'm looking towards the holiday season with a lot of excitement, and even a little dread.

Schools are getting back in session already, and with back to school upon us everyone is in full swing with their back to school specials. We are no exception. Starting August 19th (last Tuesday) and running until September 9th. we are offering 5 dollars off of all purchases over 30 dollars made through Google Checkout. So if you have already placed an order with us now would be a great time to pick up those batteries you didn't buy already, or the charger you decided you needed after you had ordered. Or even better, share the discount offer with a friend and help them to get a really good deal on some items for their camera or laptop.

Oh, and an update from the last post. We have the Acer and Gateway Equivalent 65W AC Adapter and the Acer and Gateway Equivalent 90W AC Adapter back in stock. With how fast they sold last time we have bulked up on them and shouldn't run into another problem with back orders again. So if you are needing one of those and have been hesitating to try and order one, they are available again.

Also, a quick item update. We now are carrying the Kingston 2GB Secure Digital Card as well as the Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card. They are both on the website ready to order. We will be continuing to expand our memory slowly, but there will be more available in the future so keep checking with us.

We also are going to be getting some new items very soon. The Sony NP-FH50, NP-FH70, and NP-FH100 I talked about in the last post should be here any day now. So expect to see them up on the store within the next week or two. Also we have five new items on their way to us. We just placed the order for them and it will be a few weeks before we get them in, but we have them on the way. Stay tuned with us and I'll let you know as soon as everything becomes available.

Well, that is more or less everything I have to talk about this week. As always, I want to thank everyone for taking the time to read this post, and I want to give extra special thanks to all of our customers. This company is a dream of ours and you are the ones who are making it come true for us. I am very happy to see us grow as fast as we have and I know that it is our customers who make that possible.

Thank you
Brian

Now that August is fully underway

Good morning and Good afternoon,

Well, it has been a bit of a roller coaster couple of weeks for us here at Diamondback Battery and Electronics. We had been having some trouble with our internet connection running a touch slow so we finally upgraded to a more reliable system. It seems to be working very well and should relieve the problems we have been having online.

Despite our slow connection however we have been doing phenomenal business. We have been receiving a lot of very high dollar orders. I think everyone is gearing up for the back to school rush with new laptop batteries and adapters, because they have been selling like hotcakes.

I am sad, but also a bit pleased to let you know that we have gone on backorder on two of our adapters. The Acer and Gateway Equivalent 65W AC Adapter and the Acer and Gateway Equivalent 90W AC Adapter. These two items have been selling so fast that we can't keep them on the shelves. I hate not having an item to send to our customers, but I also enjoy seeing them sell so fast. That tells us we have been doing our jobs very well.

Also, I would like to let everyone know about some new batteries we will be getting in. The Sony NP-FH50, NP-FH70, and NP-FH100. We have a shipment of them on the way to us now and are expecting them very soon. I will post them here in the blog the week we receive them. But keep your eyes on the website as they will go on the store as soon as they are available.

Well, that about wraps up this weeks post. I know it has been a very satisfying week for us here at Diamondback Battery, and I truly hope it has been for all of you as well. I wish everyone a fantastic weekend and we'll talk to you next week.

Thank you
Brian

A slow day at the presses

Good afternoon everyone,

This has been a very good week for us here at Diamondback Battery and electronics. Sales have been exceptional and our direct contact with customers has been an extremely positive experience for both sides.

On that subject I would like to let our customers know that we can be contacted even more directly than just email. For our customers using G-mail, you can contact us through the Google chat function and speak with us directly using IM. Of course theres also always the old fashion method of using the telephone. That seems to work pretty well to.

Well, this has been a pretty slow news week, but I'd like to take the opportunity to let all our customers know that we have some new items on their way and some plans for changes and improvements over the next few months.

And don't forget about the photo contest planned for the end of the year, I'm expecting good things from that.

I hope you have been having a great week, and with any luck an excellent weekend.

Brian
