Hey everyone! Sorry it took so long to get this posted; we have been keeping very busy here at Diamondback!

We have now been in business for one year and have had more than 6000 orders so far. Thank you so much for your help and support!

I know that I put in the last blog that I was going to have a few sessions about basic electronics, and I am going to do that, but I do want to let everyone know that we are now also featured on Amazon. Just like everything else these things start off slow but we have already seen some success.

Ok, now for the quick electronics lesson. The first thing everyone needs to know is a basic understanding of what electricity is.

Most people know that electricity is a flow of electrons. These electrons can be transmitted through and conductor. A conductor can be almost anything from a copper wire to the human body.

What most people don’t understand are the electrical terms. Let’s just learn just a few of the major ones and we will move on to more next week. Voltage, current (or Amperage) and resistance will be the three we look at. I find these terms to be easier to understand when I can explain as water as opposed to electricity.

Voltage is like the water pressure in a pipe. When this pressure is correct then it is very useful, when incorrect it can be very destructive. Lightning is a great example of a very high voltage that can cause damage, but not the only one. In different parts of the world household voltages are different ranging from about 100V to about 250V. When a device designed to work with 110V is plugged into an outlet rated at 240V it normally fizzles and pops and becomes generally unusable except as a paperweight.

Current is simply the amount of electricity flowing through a conductor, just like the amount of water flowing through a pipe. Most devices list their maximum current output this can be listed in Amperes or milli-Amperes or just Amps. Sometimes these numbers can also be listed as Watts, that is voltage times the current. The current listing on a device can be thought of more like the size of a water pipe, the larger the pipe the more water can flow through the pipe.

Resistance is like a faucet. Low resistance is like an open faucet, high resistance is a closed faucet. Resistance controls the flow of current allowed to flow through a device.

So, getting back to the water analogy if you have a device that has a high voltage and it rated with a large current (such as a clothes dryer) could be thought of a fire hose. Lightning (high voltage and low current) could be thought of a super high pressure water gun. A small 1.5v battery could be thought of as a small hose with a slow drip.

The standard equation for voltage, current and resistance is V=IR where V is voltage, I is current and R is resistance. This is known as ohm’s law. If you know any two of the variables you can easily find the third by manipulating the equation. For example R=V/I or I=V/R .

Next week we can talk a little bit about batteries and AC adapters and how those things work.
Here are a couple of links to our most popular items:

Hello Everyone,

It has been almost a month since our last post, but we do want to keep everyone posted on everything exciting that is going on here at Diamondback.

We have been working hard to gear up for our busiest season. This has been quite a challenge with laptop batteries and new Sony H series batteries selling as fast as we get them in.
We should receive our next battery load in about 10/13/08, so if you are waiting on a NP-FH100 or Dell battery that we are out of, we should have those back in stock then, so keep checking back.

I am also planning to write a few posts over the following weeks about the basics of electronics. This is probably pretty boring stuff for a lot of you, but we do get quite a few questions dealing with just these issues. This should include battery basics, AC adapters as well as battery chargers.

Thank You,
Steve

September, and plenty to show for it.

Good Afternoon,

Well, we have made it to September yet again. This has been an exciting year for us since our inception back in September of 2007. Our actual 1 year anniversary will be November 1st, but this is the month when we started our meetings and talks to begin Diamondback Battery. I am very proud to say that we have had a wonderful first year, and I expect nothing but the best from the future. With plans to continue giving the best customer service possible combined with top quality items for reasonable prices, all of our customers can expect big things in the coming years as well.

Now, to really kick this update into high gear, I have 9 new items to post for you. As always, these items are on the store ready to ship as soon as they are ordered. So, stepping off:

Samsung Equivalent SLB-1137C Battery

Samsung Equivalent BP-80W Battery

Canon Equivalent BP-2L24 Battery

Canon Equivalent BP-809 Battery

Canon Equivalent BP-214 Battery

Sony Equivalent NP-FH50 Battery

Sony Equivalent NP-FH70 Battery

Sony Equivalent NP-FH100 Battery

Sony Equivalent NP-FH100 Battery and Charger Combo

So, the NP-FH series of batteries I talked about in the last two updates are up on the store and ready to ship, along with a battery charger combo for the NP-FH100 for $99.99. With the Sony Equivalent NP-FH100 Battery being $49.99 each, that deal actually gets you a charger and your shipping for free. Combine that with our coupon we send with each order and your looking at one heck of a deal for a great battery.

I would also like to note something about our NP-FH series batteries. While many other after market batteries have been bypassing the info-lithium chip problems by having an external cord that you connect to the ac jack of your camera. Our batteries come with the current info-lithium chip. No cords, nothing hanging out of the camera. Just slide the battery into place and you are ready to go.

We have received a new shipment of our laptop batteries and adapters as well. So a lot of the batteries that we had run out of stock on for a short time are also back on the store and ready to go.

Everyone here at Diamondback Battery and Electronics hopes you are having a great back to school season. With things really getting into swing this year is going to go by fast. I know I personally am looking forward to Halloween so I have an excuse to indulge my sweet tooth, and with Thanksgiving and Christmas not to far down the road things are about to get really exciting.

I hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful weekend.

Thank you
Brian

August is almost over already

Hello everyone,

Well, it's the end of August already. I can't believe how fast this month seems to have gone by. It feels like it should still be June, instead of nearly September.

Regardless of how fast the year seems to be going by. It has been going really well for us here at Diamondback Battery. We are actually within just a few orders of setting a new record for sales today. This week is looking like its going to be our best week so far. With things really gearing up like this I'm looking towards the holiday season with a lot of excitement, and even a little dread.

Schools are getting back in session already, and with back to school upon us everyone is in full swing with their back to school specials. We are no exception. Starting August 19th (last Tuesday) and running until September 9th. we are offering 5 dollars off of all purchases over 30 dollars made through Google Checkout. So if you have already placed an order with us now would be a great time to pick up those batteries you didn't buy already, or the charger you decided you needed after you had ordered. Or even better, share the discount offer with a friend and help them to get a really good deal on some items for their camera or laptop.

Oh, and an update from the last post. We have the Acer and Gateway Equivalent 65W AC Adapter and the Acer and Gateway Equivalent 90W AC Adapter back in stock. With how fast they sold last time we have bulked up on them and shouldn't run into another problem with back orders again. So if you are needing one of those and have been hesitating to try and order one, they are available again.

Also, a quick item update. We now are carrying the Kingston 2GB Secure Digital Card as well as the Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card. They are both on the website ready to order. We will be continuing to expand our memory slowly, but there will be more available in the future so keep checking with us.

We also are going to be getting some new items very soon. The Sony NP-FH50, NP-FH70, and NP-FH100 I talked about in the last post should be here any day now. So expect to see them up on the store within the next week or two. Also we have five new items on their way to us. We just placed the order for them and it will be a few weeks before we get them in, but we have them on the way. Stay tuned with us and I'll let you know as soon as everything becomes available.

Well, that is more or less everything I have to talk about this week. As always, I want to thank everyone for taking the time to read this post, and I want to give extra special thanks to all of our customers. This company is a dream of ours and you are the ones who are making it come true for us. I am very happy to see us grow as fast as we have and I know that it is our customers who make that possible.

Thank you
Brian

Now that August is fully underway

Good morning and Good afternoon,

Well, it has been a bit of a roller coaster couple of weeks for us here at Diamondback Battery and Electronics. We had been having some trouble with our internet connection running a touch slow so we finally upgraded to a more reliable system. It seems to be working very well and should relieve the problems we have been having online.

Despite our slow connection however we have been doing phenomenal business. We have been receiving a lot of very high dollar orders. I think everyone is gearing up for the back to school rush with new laptop batteries and adapters, because they have been selling like hotcakes.

I am sad, but also a bit pleased to let you know that we have gone on backorder on two of our adapters. The Acer and Gateway Equivalent 65W AC Adapter and the Acer and Gateway Equivalent 90W AC Adapter. These two items have been selling so fast that we can't keep them on the shelves. I hate not having an item to send to our customers, but I also enjoy seeing them sell so fast. That tells us we have been doing our jobs very well.

Also, I would like to let everyone know about some new batteries we will be getting in. The Sony NP-FH50, NP-FH70, and NP-FH100. We have a shipment of them on the way to us now and are expecting them very soon. I will post them here in the blog the week we receive them. But keep your eyes on the website as they will go on the store as soon as they are available.

Well, that about wraps up this weeks post. I know it has been a very satisfying week for us here at Diamondback Battery, and I truly hope it has been for all of you as well. I wish everyone a fantastic weekend and we'll talk to you next week.

Thank you
Brian

We would like to also let everyone know about Google's Back To School $5 off special. Is starts August 19th and ends September 9th. However you must place this through the Google checkout and your order must be over $30, not including shipping. We are looking forward to when everyone goes back to school.

We at Diamondback battery are happy to announce that we have several new items to add to our shelves. We have received a new stock of laptop batteries that you can find on our store that are ready to ship.

A slow day at the presses

Good afternoon everyone,

This has been a very good week for us here at Diamondback Battery and electronics. Sales have been exceptional and our direct contact with customers has been an extremely positive experience for both sides.

On that subject I would like to let our customers know that we can be contacted even more directly than just email. For our customers using G-mail, you can contact us through the Google chat function and speak with us directly using IM. Of course theres also always the old fashion method of using the telephone. That seems to work pretty well to.

Well, this has been a pretty slow news week, but I'd like to take the opportunity to let all our customers know that we have some new items on their way and some plans for changes and improvements over the next few months.

And don't forget about the photo contest planned for the end of the year, I'm expecting good things from that.

I hope you have been having a great week, and with any luck an excellent weekend.

Back to a normal Friday update

Howdy all,

Welcome back from what was hopefully a wonderful 4th of July weekend (and a short week recovering from it). We have been having a great week here at Diamondback Battery this week, with some of the best sales numbers we've seen in a while. We are getting really excited to see all the new customers that are coming in, but even more so we are extremely happy to see the many return customers we have been receiving as well. We take great pride in what we do and it comes with a certain sense of accomplishment when we can help out a customer again and again.

Now, as I promised in last weeks update. We will be adding new items to the Diamondback Battery and Electronics website fairly often. So in keeping with that promise I have several new items to tell you about today.

First off we have several new adapters available:

Apple Equivalent 65W AC Adapter

HP/Compaq Equivalent 120W AC Adapter

Acer and Gateway Equivalent 90W AC Adapter

Next we received several new Olympus camera battery chargers:

Olympus Equivalent BCM-01 Battery Charger

Olympus Equivalent LI-10C Battery Charger

Olympus Equivalent LI-40C Battery Charger

And finally we made an interesting discovery about one of the batteries we already carried. As it turns out the Olympus Equivalent LI-42B Battery also works as the Nikon Equivalent EN-EL10 Battery, the Fuji Equivalent NP-45 Battery, and predictably, the Olympus Equivalent LI-40B Battery.

That was an interesting, and quite exciting discovery for us as it allows us to cover a larger item base and make sure we have the items for more of our customers.

Well, that about wraps up this week for us. If you are looking for any of the items above they are available and ready to ship, and if you have any questions for us please feel free to contact us.

Have a good day and a great weekend.

Brian

Hello all,

I hope everyones week is going OK so far. It's almost 4th of July weekend. I'm getting ready for barbeque's and fireworks myself. So this week we are posting the update early, as Diamondback Battery and Electronics will be closed on Friday, July 4th in observance of the holiday.

Almost like a quiet night on the porch

Hi,

So, to break the excitement of the last two weeks. This week is going to be a short update.

First off, I would like to talk about the photo contest again. All of us here at Diamondback Battery and Electronics would like to say thank you to everyone who submitted a photo. We had some excellent pictures and enjoyed seeing the response from our customers very much.

We are currently in the planning stages of another photo contest to be held towards the end of the year. Hopefully we can give away some great prizes for the Christmas season. Along with the contest prizes we will also be holding special sales on our store website. This next contest should run a bit longer and have a slightly more specific theme for the photos. So we should see some interesting entries.

Next, I would like to mention a brand new item to our store. The Kingston 2GB Secure Digital Card is now available on the store. It is ready to ship as soon as you purchase it. For the time being we are going to be sticking to the Secure Digital cards, but various sizes of card should be available in the near future.

Thats about it for this week. Thank you to everyone for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

It's a Friday super blow out

Howdy all. Happy Friday and I hope you've had a good week since I checked in with you last Friday. We actually have a lot to talk about today.

First off, today is the official end of the photo contest. At 11:59 P.M. Mountain Daylight Time. (Thats 1:59a.m. on the east coast and 10:59p.m. on the west coast for anyone who cant remember) We have some great photos in the contest so far, and I know each of us here at Diamondback Battery and Electronics have a personal favorite. It's going to be a hard race for the finish, but I'm looking forward to it. Make sure to get your photos in soon, time is almost up.

Next, I know a few of our customers had informed us of what looked like a factory defect in the Sony Equivalent BC-TRG NP-BG1 Battery Charger. We have gone ahead with an in house modification to the charger that makes the after market batteries fit better. If anyone has purchased one of the NP-BG-1 chargers and would like to exchange it for the modified charger please just contact us and we will be more than happy to exchange that for you.

Another week in the books

Howdy all, I hope your week was a successful one.

It's been a bit of a slow news week this week.

We are still waiting on the LP-E5 batteries. There seems to be some of the standard shipping delays when trying to get something in a hurry. We are expecting them very soon however.

Also, the end of the photo contest is Friday, June 13th. Which means we are down to the final seven days of the contest. I am pretty excited about the last few days of this contest, I expect we will see some of our best entries yet.

Just a quick check in on this fine Friday afternoon.

Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend

Brian

Friday, May 30, 2008

We made it through another week

Howdy everyone, it's Friday again. I for one am forward to the weekend.

This week has been a good one for us here at DiamondBack. The Battery and charger combos have really picked up in sales. We are expecting them to be some very good items, especially once the summer gets rolling and everyone is buying camera supplies to go on vacation.

We are still working on getting the laptop batteries and adapters ready for sale. We are just refining our online compatibility lists right now. That should be finished by next week and the ads will be up shortly thereafter.

Have a great weekend everyone and we look forward to doing business with you next week.

I'll be checking in with you again on Tuesday with all the newest news and info from DiamondBack battery and electronics.

Back up to Speed

Sorry for the lengthy absence of posts. We had some internal work that required most of our attention. But we are getting back up to speed and are ready to get you back up to date.

We have received our shipments of all the chargers we were out of stock on. So we have plenty of the Sony equivalent BC-TRG chargers ready to ship, but as an added bonus we now have the NP-BG1 batteries in stock to go along with it.

We are getting ready to launch some new items as well. Laptop batteries and laptop power adapters, we hope to have the ads up for those by the end of next week. So keep your eyes peeled.

We will also be trying out some new things with our current stock. We already have the BG1 battery and charger combo pack as well as the NB-2L combo pack on the site, and we will be adding more charger and battery combos as time allows.

I am looking forward to a great weekend and will be checking in again on Tuesday of next week with news and updates.

Thanks to everyone who reads the blog and especially to our customers.
Have a great weekend

The Glass Is Half Full

Things really are moving along very well for us. Almost too well, you could say. When we received our first shipment of chargers, we underestimated how popular the Sony Equivalent BC-TRG chargers would be and as a consequence we have now sold through our entire stock of them. While it is great that we are selling them this fast, it also has its downside.

It will now be a long wait for the Chinese New Year celabration to end so we can get our order placed and shipped. Unfortunately, it will likely be around March 21st before we have the chargers in stock again. This is not a definate date, but it's our best guess right now.

Even though this means a period where we will not be selling those chargers, I cannot help but feel good about what it means in the long run. The things that we're doing are working and people are behind us in what we are trying to do. I want to thank everyone that reads this blog, and especially everyone that passes our name along to a friend, co-worker or family member. You are the reason that we are doing so well right now, and you will be the reason that we continue to grow.

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day Everybody!

It has been a great February for us!

We are at order #580 and climbing steadily.

I would love to thank my wife for putting up with me for the last 10 years! Without her support this would certainly not have been possible. Happy Valentines day Darlin’!

We have uploaded most of our pictures for our new batteries now with just a few remaining. We are going to start working on the marketing of all of our new items this week. If you haven’t noticed, we come up on a lot of google searches for things like NB-2L charger. This has been very good for us, also the rating on reseller ratings has helped considerably.

We are working also on customer service because we would always like to be known as the company out there that will always takes care of our customers. If there is something that we need to improve, please let us know.

After the Chinese New Year is over (it lasts about a month) we will be seeing a flood of new items coming in.

If you need something special feel free to give us a call or email. We have already filled a couple of custom orders and have access to many items.

We do have free Fed-Ex 2nd Day Shipping on all domestic orders over $50 and $5.99(USPS) $8.99(Fed-Ex) shipping for orders under $50. We do provide shipping outside the US for a flat rate of $8.99, we are currently working with Fed-Ex to get us some decent international rates, but we haven’t got them just yet.

Enjoy your day with your friends and family, especially your best friend!

One Goal Reached

Hey Everybody,

Thank you everyone for reading this blog and being so supportive with your wonderful calls, emails, and the post on “DPreview”. Response has been very positive and we are very excited as we move into the future.

I know I said that I would be posting more often and I do plan on it. We have had a very good problem we are starting to get busy. We have reached our goal of 10 sales per day, our “break even” point, and are working on doubling that by the end of this month. We have today reached order # 350.

We are day by day adding new items. We have almost a full line of chargers up, and are now working on the batteries. If we don’t have something listed, give us a call, or a quick email and we will see if we can get it for you.

We should by the end of spring have some laptop accessories going online. We are planning on having in stock all the most popular AC adapters as well as batteries, so continue to stop by.

If any of our current customers are reading, we are listed on resellerratings.com here:
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Diamondback_Battery_Electronics
I would absolutely love it if someone would post something there for us!

Thank You Again,
Steve

The Best Policy

If you've been keeping track of our store, you may have noticed that some changes have been happening over the last day or so with our battery listings. We have changed the mAh ratings on all of our batteries to reflect the correct amount, rather than overrating the batteries as we did when we first listed them.

When we started DiamondBack, we had a lot of experience with the digital camera accessories business. While this is an overwhelming advantage to us, it did cause us to do some things without really evaluating them. One of these things was the practice of overrating the mAh on our batteries. Some of you may already be familiar with what this means, but for those of you who don't here's an explanation:
Many years ago when digital cameras were first getting really popular, there were very few companies that sold third party batteries. As more and more companies got into the business, competition became fierce. Some companies began marketing their batteries as having a higher mAh (miliamp hour) rating than they actually did. Other companies found that if they were honest about their mAh ratings they began to lose sales, until most if not all companies that sold third party batteries had begun to overrate their batteries. Since then the practice has escalated, and some of the mAh ratings listed are far more than double the actual capacity of the battery.

As we started our company, this practice got carried over without any question or consideration. It was not until a customer sent us an e-mail asking how our batteries could have so much more capacity than the OEM batteries that we really considered what it was that we were actually doing. Steve answered the e-mail honestly, letting the customer know that the ratings listed on our website were incorrect. He posted Steve's reply on the DPReview Forums (click here to view the thread) to let the community there know how we had responded to his question.

After we had thought about what the practice meant to us as a company, and more importantly to our customers, we decided that we would stop overrating the mAh on our batteries. We have always hoped that we could do something special with this company, and we feel that this is the first big step toward that goal. If you have any questions about what all of this means, or would just like to get some additional information, please feel free to call us at 1-877-277-9595 or e-mail us at diamondbackbatt@gmail.com.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone! I have to say for myself that 2007 was the best of times and the worst of times. My wife and I were able to make the trip of a lifetime spending a whirlwind tour of Australia, China and Thailand (all wonderful places by the way) for 3 weeks in March. The second third of the year was not quite so fortunate. My favorite dog died, I got fired for the first time in my life (on 9/11), and my last living grandparent died. However the year certainly ended on a high note when myself, my wife and 7 other brave souls came together and started this company that became Diamondback Battery & Electronics.
In 2008 we will expect great things to come, although I am sure we will have some setbacks along the way. Orders are now trickling in daily one here and one there, but by the end of January I expect that we will get 10-12 orders a day. I know you are thinking that is nothing to write home about, and its not, but it is a start and it will allow us to pay rent without dipping further into savings. With any luck by the end of February we will be turning a profit.
We are in the process of adding about 30 new items and combos I will keep you posted on progress.

Steve
